As the clocks go back and the evenings get darker, visibility on our roads drops significantly. This time of year brings increased risks for pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders, and children walking to and from school.
We’re asking everyone in our community to take simple steps to stay safe and visible:
 

👣 For Pedestrians and Cyclists:
•     Wear reflective clothing or accessories like armbands, backpacks, and shoe clips.
•     Use lights on bikes and carry small torches when walking in low-light areas.
•     Choose bright colours that stand out—especially for children’s coats and school bags.
 

🚗 For Drivers:
•     Slow down in residential areas and near schools, parks, and crossings.
•     Be extra alert for vulnerable road users, especially in rural lanes and poorly lit areas.
•     Check your headlights and windscreen wipers—autumn weather can reduce visibility even further.
